Is it possible to do more with less? When it comes to the new Groundsmaster® 5900/5910 large-area rotary mowers, the answer is yes. These units make it possible for a single operator to mow over 17 acres/hour (6.87 hectares/hour) — and that adds up to covering more park and sports field ground without adding workers or budget.
Fuel-Saving Efficiency
Toro has taken the trusted design of the previous Groundsmaster 5900/5910 and integrated a fuel-efficient Tier 4 Final-compliant Yanmar® 3.3-liter turbocharged diesel engine. In addition, innovations to the hydraulic systems and the electric cooling system also help deliver increased horsepower efficiency. The new units also feature deeper cutting decks, which reduce power usage in thick or tall cutting conditions. With all of these upgrades, the new Tier 4 Final models have demonstrated fuel savings of up to 30 percent when compared to the previous Groundsmaster 5900/5910 models.
Big On Productivity
With a cutting width of up to 16 ft. (4.9 m) cutting width, the new Groundsmaster 5900 Series models allow an operator to mow over 100 acres (40.5 hectares) per day, making this an extremely productive mower for even the largest applications. Operators can also raise either the left or right wing deck or both decks to mow between objects and along narrower areas.
These mowers are also loaded with intelligence. For example, the SmartPower™ system keeps the cutting blades running at the optimum speed, regardless of turf conditions. This allows the operator to effortlessly maintain the correct speed for optimal cutting. The mowers are also equipped with the SmartCool™ system, which auto-reverses the cooling fans to blow chaff and debris off the intake screen to help reduce overheating. This is a big time saver, reducing the number of times an operator has to stop and exit the unit to clean the back hood.
Comfort and Safety
Beyond these productivity enhancements, the new Groundsmaster 5900/5910 models also feature a larger ControlArm™ console, which now positions all key controls at the operator’s fingertips. The onboard InfoCenter™ displays clear and simple operating information at a glance, along with key maintenance reminders.
For maximum comfort, the four-way adjustable seat and air-ride suspension adjust to the operator’s desired firmness to maximize comfort. The entire operator platform is isolation-mounted to reduce noise and vibration. And for year-round flexibility, a model is available with a factory-installed, climate-controlled all-season cab that features a low-profile roof, rollover protection system (ROPS) and an air filtration system that minimizes operator exposure to dust and debris.
Nimble Handling
Full-time bi-directional 4-wheel drive puts power where it’s needed. Plus, the CrossTrax® all-wheel drive system offers increased cross-wheel traction control. And the units can make 180˚ U-turns with no uncut grass left behind — so operators can mow closely around trees and other obstacles with zero trim.
It all adds up to a powerful package of upgrades that make the proven Groundsmaster 5900 Series even better.
